14 Surprisingly Easy Ways To Practice Self-Love

Self-love and gratitude are the sources of happiness, and I truly believe this! Which is why I’m sharing 14 ways you can practice self-love.

Self-love and gratitude are essential to making your dreams become a reality and creating a life you love. You will step into your full potential and let your light shine. You will feel free and confident in your abilities and look forward to the day, rather than waking up with a case of Monday-itus.

With Valentines Day around the corner, it’s a time where love is celebrated, but most people celebrate being in a relationship with their partner or spouse.

But what about the relationship you have with yourself?

Do you constantly beat yourself up (guilty), do you always put yourself down instead of praising your accomplishments (guilty), or do you constantly doubt your abilities (guilty)?

Like me, if you answered yes to any of these questions, then read on because here are some ways to integrate self-love into your life that aren’t too woo-woo or out there. They are simple ways that anyone can instantly feel more positive and confident in themselves.

14 Surprisingly Easy Ways To Practice Self-Love

Practice gratitude daily. If you have been following my blog or signed up to my channel on YouTube, then you know I’m all into gratitude. It is the single most important and effective way to instantly feel alive and happy for the life you have. It’s as simple as focusing on what you have in your life, instead of the have-nots. When you take a moment to quite your mind and really think about the blessings you have and focus on those, the worry, the fear of not having enough, melt away. I particularly love this quote by love this quote from  by Jen Sincero in her book You Are a Badass

It’s is important to look for ways to be grateful for all that you’ve manifested, even things that you might label under ‘No, thanks’.

Do Less. It is easy to say yes when we are asked to do something, in fact, it’s my default answer when I’m asked. Over the years by saying yes to others demands, over and over again, you lose sight of what is important to you because you are running around fretting about getting a presentation done for your boss, instead of working on your own tasks. The key to practice self-love is to do less, but do it well and do what makes you happy.

Never Stop Learning. I’ve got an obsession with reading and that’s a good thing because it opens my mind to new possibilities, new tools I can use in my life and new ways to practice self-love.

An extraordinary life is all about daily, continuous improvements in areas that matter most. – Robin Sharma

I find happiness in curling up with a book in the evenings when Zachary has gone to bed reading and I try to do this most nights. There is something so delicious about curling up on the sofa with a Chia latte and reading a good book. I’m half-way through Jen Sincero’s You Are a Badass.

Dress your best. Do it for you, not anybody else. Throwing on some old clothes that have paint on them or clothes that you feel ugly in, doesn’t serve you. I know this can sound vain, but it’s not about showing off a new Gucci handbag that you mortgaged your dog for. It is simply wearing something that you feel good in. If you love a bold lip like my favourite NYX Professional Makeup Soft Matte Lip Cream in Ibiza, then wear it.

Create and say your own affirmations each day. After reading The Miracle Morning by Hal Elrod, he suggests incorporating affirmations into your morning routine. Ok I know this is a bit ‘woo woo’ and I felt like a moron the first time I said my own affirmations. But now after three months of doing it, I can see the positive results manifest themselves in my life.

The other day, I was chatting with a friend and they were doubting their ability to get a job they really really wanted. Normally I would have been nodding my head, agreeing with them. But then one of my morning affirmations popped into my head, which was: “I will inspire others to help me because of my willingness to help others.” which is one of the affirmations Hal suggests.

Instead of sympathising with their doubts and worries, I instantly noticed that they had all the skills and experience required for the job and proceeded to list all their great qualities. How awesome was that?

Keep a daily journal. I love a good old-fashioned notebook to write in. In particular, a journal to track goals and ensure I’m on target to make them a reality. I’ve found, for me, the best way to manifest all those good things you want in your life, is to journal. There is something about committing your dreams to paper, that make them seem a bit more achievable. Watch the video below for three tips on how to get started journaling:

Practising self-love is the easiest way to bring more goodness into your life. More love, more motivation more confidence. Your full potential will shine through and you will feel confident and live a life full of joy. I genuinely wish this for you dear reader!
