Ten Highlights From 2017

January 4, 2018

Wow, it feels likes 2017 just flew by in a whirlwind. Looking back I can’t believe that this time last year I was living in London. It seems like an eternally ago that we were bundled up celebrating Christmas as a family of three. Not to mention how little Zachary was.

A new year always brings with it something fresh and new. But I like to start the year reflecting on the year that was and enjoying those beautiful memories that were created. 2017 was such a year of massive change for our little family and it was hectic.

Without further ado, here are my 10 favourite moments from 2017.

Park Time. As Zachary started to grow up (far too quickly!), and I recovered from giving birth, I would walk the local parks around our local neighbourhood of Twickenham in London. Famous for the massive rugby stadium.

Lake Como. We spent 10 magical days there in July, sipping rose watching the sunset over the lake and breath-taking mountains. Oh, take me back!

Prague. A few days in Prague in July was beautiful. This gorgeous city is full of history and surprisingly a winery in the middle of the city. Of course, we stopped and had wine and cheese.

Falling in Love with Hiking… Again. The beginning of getting back in shape was to start hiking. I took it very easy and the first hike was Wild Horse Mountain in the Glasshouse Mountains in Queensland, Australia.

One Tree Hill. In Queensland, there is this hilltop with a single tree north of Indooroopilly. We got up early one morning to watch the sunrise. Breath-taking.

Zachary’s First Flight. His first flight was from London to Prague and he handled it like it was nothing special. He did love to look out the window at the clouds. By the end of 2017, he had been to six countries! Lucky little man.

Returning to Australia. Whilst this was a MASSIVE job, it is wonderful to be in our home country again. Everything is just SO much easier as we are citizens and there are no visa hassles or not knowing the little stuff like which brands of bread are good. HA!

Visiting Where We Were Married. It was in 2010 that we were married and this was the first time we had been back to Putty Beach. We were married there on a perfect summery day in March. There were happy tears.

Flagstaff Mountain. We went on a magical hike that was just outside my hometown of Tamworth in Australia. It is a very rugged landscape and after being surrounded by the lush greenery of London, it was beautiful to hike to the top.

Family Christmas. It was the first time in seven years that we have all been together as a family. Very special moment. Yes, tears again.
